Terms & Conditions

Please find below our terms and conditions, including our RHA conditions of carriage

Quotes

  • We mostly quote on a worked-in basis, where we will plan to tie your transport in when we have a vehicle in the area, and are able to consolidate loads.  We are able to quote on a dedicated basis if you require specific timings for your transport; please make this clear in your request.

  • Accurate dimensions and addresses should be provided for quoting purposes please.

  • Quotes are valid for 60 days, unless stated otherwise.  If you wish to proceed with a transport request after this period, please check to see if the quote remains valid.

  • All prices quoted are excluding VAT. Transport associated with export/import is Zero VAT.

Payment Terms

  • For customers with a credit account, payment terms are 30 days from date of invoice.

  • Customers without a credit account will be on proforma basis, with payment required before transport is completed.  A full VAT invoice will be provided on completion of the transport.

Completion of Transport

  • Rainthorpe Transport are members of the Road Haulage Association (RHA), and operate under their Conditions of Carriage (with the tonnage limit removed (point 12.1.c).

  • When transporting goods between the UK and Europe, we operate under CMR Conditions.

  • We will ensure that all parties are notified of planned collection and delivery dates ahead of time.  We require contact telephone numbers for the drivers to be able to keep in touch with all parties, to discuss timings and access routes/instructions.

  • We reserve the right to charge for waiting time at collection/delivery, if excessive and unexpected.

  • We reserve the right to charge for cancelled jobs and wasted journeys if our vehicle is already on its way, or is unable to make the collection/delivery as planned. Also, if permits have been obtained specifically to complete the transport.

  • Movement of abnormal loads requires us to submit a police movement ahead of transport. We must be provided with correct measurements and weights for all loads classed as abnormal, prior to completion of the transport.  Should any dimensions differ at loading, a new movement order will have to be submitted, requiring two clear working days notice before the movement can be completed. Charges will be applied for additional administration charges, the initial wasted journey, and if a wide load escort vehicle needs to be supplied as a result.
